Safeguarding, Child Safety and Data Sharing Notice

EdiWay is designed to support schools, families, and authorised professionals in handling education, support, and wellbeing information responsibly. Because the platform may involve children and sensitive information, safeguarding and child safety are central to how access and sharing must work.

1. Our Approach

We aim to support child safety, appropriate information sharing, role-based access, and accountable record handling. Access to learner records should follow role permissions, relationship permissions, invitation controls, school settings, and lawful or safeguarding requirements.

2. Who May Access Child Information

Depending on the workflow, child information may be visible to:

  • the relevant school and its authorised staff;
  • linked parents and carers;
  • authorised family members or co-parents were linked;
  • authorised professionals invited through the platform;
  • home education workers or support personnel where validly linked;
  • other recipients where a lawful and appropriate safeguarding or legal basis applies.

3. Restricted Information

Not all invited users should automatically be able to view all information. Sensitive areas such as safeguarding, medical, behaviour, SEN, SEND, or wellbeing information may require tighter visibility rules than general educational information.

4. Invitation and Sharing Controls

The platform includes invitation-based access features for family and professional workflows. Invitations and sharing decisions must only be made by users who have the authority to create them.

5. Home Education and Transition Sharing

Where learners move between school-enrolled, home-educated, and hybrid settings, records may be preserved, shared, or transitioned according to permissions, school relationships, parental authority, lawful data-sharing decisions, and safeguarding considerations.

6. Messaging and Platform Conduct

Messaging, support, and collaboration features must not be used for harassment, coercion, exploitation, or any conduct that could put a child or vulnerable user at risk.

7. AI and Safeguarding

AI-supported features must not be treated as safeguarding decision-makers. Any safeguarding-related AI output must be reviewed carefully by an appropriate human user.

8. Concerns and Escalation

If you believe there is a safeguarding, child protection, welfare, or serious misuse concern connected to the platform, contact safeguarding@elaha.uk or hello@elaha.uk immediately.

9. Lawful Disclosure

We may preserve or disclose relevant information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect users, investigate serious misuse, or respond to safeguarding-related concerns, subject to applicable law and internal handling rules.
