Education Doesn’t Need Another System. It Needs a Better Way of Working.
For decades, schools have adopted technology one problem at a time. A new system for attendance. Another for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Another for safeguarding, parental communication, HR, and payments. Every time a new challenge emerges, a new platform is purchased to solve it.
Yet, every new platform creates another login, another isolated database, another contract to manage, another data export, and another training session for exhausted staff. What began as a genuine push for digital transformation has quietly morphed into digital fragmentation.
Meanwhile, the demands placed upon schools have never been greater:
-
SEND demands continue to rise sharply.
-
Safeguarding responsibilities are expanding in scope and complexity.
-
Teacher workloads remain unsustainably high.
-
Families expect greater transparency and real-time communication.
-
Government and inspection frameworks demand richer, more immediate evidence.
Yet many schools are still attempting to manage these immense pressures through a patchwork of systems that were never designed to speak to one another. Education deserves better.
Three Years of Research. A Lifetime of Experience.
EdiWay didn’t start in a corporate boardroom; it started at home. As a parent to six children, I have spent years navigating the complexities of the education system firsthand. Every personal battle, every school transition, and every communication disconnect our family experienced highlighted a glaring flaw in how educational data is handled.
When you combine that lived experience and personal educational background with 20 years of professional web development, the path forward becomes undeniable. EdiWay was born from this exact intersection of deep personal passion and technical expertise. For the past three years, building this platform has been my absolute focus – a mission to create the solution I knew families and schools desperately needed.
But passion alone isn’t enough to rebuild an ecosystem. We needed to understand the landscape from every conceivable angle. We didn’t rush to write code or build just another piece of software. Instead, we spent three years working alongside educators, SEND professionals, school leaders, families, software developers, and policy researchers to ask one fundamental question:
What would education look like if we designed the technology around the learner, instead of around individual software products?
That single question became the true foundation of EdiWay. We researched how schools actually operate on the ground. We studied SEND legislation, analyzed safeguarding protocols, and explored the complexities of multi-agency collaboration. We examined alternative provision, wellbeing, AI governance, and lifelong learning.
Our findings across the board were remarkably consistent, validating exactly what we had experienced as a family: almost every major challenge schools face is made significantly harder by fragmented information.
Schools Don’t Have a Data Problem. They Have a Connection Problem.
Schools already hold an enormous amount of valuable information. The challenge is that it lives everywhere.
Attendance sits in one system, behavior in another, and SEND interventions somewhere else entirely. Safeguarding records are isolated, parents communicate through separate third-party apps, and external multi-agency professionals produce reports that get buried in shared drives. Nothing is technically missing; everything is just disconnected.
As a result, dedicated professionals spend thousands of hours every year searching for information that already exists. They duplicate evidence, re-enter the same data, manually prepare reports, and toggle between endless logins—not because education requires it, but because the software forces them to.
Every Child Has One Story. Technology Should Reflect That.
A learner isn’t just a SEND profile, an attendance percentage, or a safeguarding concern. They are a complex, whole person. Every conversation, intervention, assessment, and achievement contributes toward a complete understanding of that learner.
Today’s fragmented systems divide that story into disconnected chapters. Imagine, instead, a world where every authorized professional—teachers, SENCOs, Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), educational psychologists, and parents – could view the exact same connected learner journey. They would only see the information they are authorized to see, but they would always work from the same evidence and collaborate around the same holistic view of the child.
This is the driving philosophy behind EdiWay.

AI That Supports Professionals, Never Replaces Them
Artificial intelligence is undoubtedly transforming education, but it should never replace human empathy and professional judgment.
At EdiWay, our AI tools are built on one simple principle: Support people; never replace them. Every AI-generated letter, report, intervention plan, or recommendation remains fully reviewable by the responsible professional. The teacher remains the teacher. The SENCO remains the SENCO. The safeguarding lead remains fully accountable. The AI simply removes hours of repetitive administrative burden so educators can focus on what they do best: teaching and supporting students.
Designed Around the Entire Educational Journey
Education doesn’t miraculously begin at Year 7 and end at Year 11. Learners move dynamically through nurseries, primary schools, specialist provisions, home education, colleges, and apprenticeships. Yet, every transition carries the immense risk of losing valuable knowledge and momentum.
EdiWay is designed around the concept of a lifelong learner record. One secure educational history. One governed evidence base. One connected journey.
The Future Is Connected
EdiWay represents more than a product; it represents a fundamental shift in how we think about education technology. Instead of asking, “Which software should schools buy next?” we asked, “Why do schools need so many separate systems in the first place?”
Education is changing, and technology must finally step up to support it. Schools deserve systems that reduce workload. Parents deserve meaningful collaboration. Professionals deserve immediate access to evidence. And learners deserve unbroken continuity throughout their educational journey.
One Platform. One Learner Record. One Future.
